Gobble Gobble!

wpid-wp-1447199332027.jpg

Today was an *almost* headache free day. Praise! I was able to put together these fun turkey themed lunches for my boys. I made a turkey shaped sunbutter and jam sandwich. I used Food Writers to add eyes, beaks, gobblers, feet, and feathers. Glorious, colorful feathers. I also packed cheddar sandwich crackers, dried cranberries, dates (Bigs), a Pfeffernusse cookie (Smalls), mandarin orange (Bigs), carrots (Smalls), green grapes, and raspberries (Bigs).

I am also the Co-op Parent in my Smalls’ class, so here is my lunch:

I packed salad with dressing, a Pfeffernusse cookie, dried cranberries, kiwi, mozzarella cheese, and green grapes.

I’m SOOOO excited for Thanksgiving! It’s my favorite holiday!

Pancake Sandwich & Lunchables Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches

Hello from the other siiiiide

It’s been a while. Halloween has come and gone. I’ve not kept up with both this blog and my “fun” lunches. I’ve had a time getting my migraines and headaches under control. Anyone who has been through that knows, well…it’s a headache! I’m taking it minute by minute, some days.

Here are two of the many lunches I’ve made since we last saw each other. These are the only fun(ish) ones. At least I *hope* they were fun for them. šŸ˜€

Pancake and jam sandwiches, mandarin orange (Bigs), carrots (Smalls), grapes, cheddar sandwich crackers, dried cranberries, and three little oatmeal letter cookies.

Another homemade Lunchable – I’ve been doing these about once a week now! This time it was chicken, cheddar, Ritz, a mini banana muffin, mandarin orange (Bigs), grapes, and a piece of Halloween candy.

Peace n’ Blessins’ (look it up, it’s my favorite),

Jack-o-lantern Themed Kindergarten School Lunch

wpid-wp-1445288818478.jpg

For yesterday’s lunch, I made a sunbutter and jam jack-o-lantern sandwich. I cut out eyes, a mouth, and a little nose, and added some color with my Food Writers. I also packed colby jack cheese, cheddar sandwich crackers, grapes, a teeny piece of homemade pumpkin pie and one little candy corn. I decorated with a spider ring, a ghost ring, and a little grody rubber rat.

Owl Themed Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches (and a Blogiversary!)

Today is my 2nd blog anniversary! I can’t believe it’s been two years already. It’s been such a HOOT.

To celebrate, here are two cute, little owl lunches:

I made owl shapedĀ pumpkin cream cheeseĀ sandwiches. I added googly eyes and used my Food Writers to add wings, beaks, and little owl toes (claws?). I also packed dried cranberries, cheddar sandwich crackers, homemade cinnamon applesauce, and a [partially eaten, shhhh] Little Debbie Star Crunch.

HoooooOOOoooOOOO,

Kristin

First Day of Fall Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches

Tomorrow is…wait for it…okay don’t…THE FIRST DAY OF FALL! For us, living in sunny and hot Florida, this means nothing more than not looking like a wackadoodle for putting out pumpkin decorations (I proudly fall into the wackadoodle category, as my fall decor has been out for weeks!). Sometimes, we Florida girls will also wear boots, quite unnecessarily (I also do this), order our weight in (sometimes skinny and alternative milk) PSLs (look it up if you don’t already know), and marvel at how crisp our mornings have been, in the mid 70’s. Ahhhh, Fall! Would I love to see some orange leaves? Yes. Would I love the weather to require boots or snuggly sweatshirts? Heck yes. But for now, I shall celebrate with pumpkin shaped sandwiches in my kids’ lunchboxes. I do what I can with what I have.

****slurrrrrps on my PSL****

For my babes, I made a honey maple turkey, colby jack, and mayo sandwiches shaped like pumpkins. I used Food Writers to add a few details. I also packed cheddar sandwich crackers, peaches, grapes (for Bigs), broccoli (for Smalls), applesauce squeezey (for Bigs), an Apple Pie Oatmeal Cookie, and a few candy corn (or “candy pa-corn” as my Smalls calls it).

It’s Fall Y’all!

Ham & Cheese Friday Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches

wpid-wp-1442521856346.jpg

Tomorrow is Friday. Yay. I’m so glad we made it another week. I packed ham, cheese, and mayo sandwiches for my boys. With this Arnold’s Country Bread, I only have to make one sandwich and split it between them. I also packed cotton candy grapes, an Apple Pie Oatmeal Cookie, cheddar sandwich crackers, raisins, a natural fruit leather, broccoli for Smalls, and yogurt pretzels for Bigs.

Long live the weekend!

Pumpkin Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches

I had waited long enough. It was time. Time to pull out the Fall decorations and put them up proudly, knowing that not everyone would agree with my decision. So, today, that’s exactly what I did. I’ve got my Fall wreath on my front door, some sparkly gourds filling a glass pillar (because all gourds should be sparkly), some felt owls on my china cabinet. Oh yes. My boys are so excited. I also baked apple cookies. God-willing, with all this Fall surrounding me, Fall weather will come sooner and relieve me of this dreadful 90+ degree heat.

To further celebrate our festive decor, I went with a pumpkin theme on my boys’ lunches for tomorrow. I made pumpkin shaped sunbutter and apple jelly sandwiches, and used my Food Writers to add a wee bit of detail. I also packed red grapes, cheddar sandwich crackers, charred corn (in my pumpkin shaped silicone cupcake wrappers), and one Apple Pie Oatmeal Cookie.

These cookies are the epitome of Fall. Chewy, soft, warm with cinnamon, sweet with apples.

Oh yes, boy

This recipe is EASY. And, wait for it…HEALTHY! I made smaller cookies than the recipe called for (instead of fifteen, I made 22), and I added vanilla bean paste, in addition to the vanilla extract. And each cookie is less than 100 calories (and actually, I think MUCH less since I made smaller cookies!). These can also be easily converted to gluten free. A must!

Happy (almost) FALL, y’all!

Ham & Cheese Kindergarten School Lunch

wpid-wp-1441669928960.jpg

For today’s lunch, I went with a yellowish and greenish theme. Okayyyy, so not really, but that is how it turned out, so Imma go with it. I made a ham, cheese, and mayo sandwich. I also packed some dried jack fruit, cotton candy grapes, cheddar sandwich crackers, charred corn, and a teeny bit less than a half cupcake (a GF chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake I’d made over the weekend).

Happy Tuesday!

Pumpkin Bread Kindergarten & 3’s School Lunches

wpid-wp-1441139936186.jpg

It’s baaaaaaaaack! Pumpkin is everywhere now, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I love this time of year! I found some Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Spice Swirl Bread on sale and I couldn’t resist taking it home with me. If we’re beingĀ honest, it jumped right in my grocery cart. šŸ˜‰

So, for tomorrow’s lunches for my boys, I made added cream cheese to that delicious bread (which is so good all on its own!), and split it in half. I also packed homemade fruit snacks, which I made with berries only this time, charred corn, colby jack cheese cubes, and cheddar sandwich crackers. My Bigs will also (if I remember HA!), get an organic yogurt squeeze.
