Happy Halloween, Friends! For today’s lunches, I made Jack O’ Lantern sandwiches. On the inside is cream cheese and Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Pie Spice Cookie Butter. I used my food safe markers to add some details. And just like real Jack O’Lanterns, each one is different! HA! That bottom one looks like one that’s been sitting out for a week already, but hey, I don’t think my Smalls will mind too much! I also packed raisins, red and green grapes (sliced in half for Smalls, because he still likes to shove them into his mouth all at the same time), some Trader Joe’s Inner Peas, some veggie straws since I ran out of Inner Peas, an apple, a Kit Kat, and some black and orange chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Whew!
I hope today is a BOOtiful day for you, and that you don’t fly off the handle if you’re feeling witchy, and that you have fun trick or tweeting if you’re a bird, and that you enjoy your i-scream if you’re a ghoul.

This week is bug week! How…um, creepy crawly.
To start it off, I made a butterfly lunch:
I have zero excuses for why this picture is crooked. #oops By the time I saw it, it was too late. You cannot win them all, it turns out. I packed a PB&J butterfly, put some pretzels and raisins in a flower cup, packed some blueberries and strawberries, a few fairy cookies, and a yogurt squeeze, and called it a (crooked) day.
For tomorrow’s lunch, I went insect-free (my personal preference):
I packed a cinnamon raisin bagel with vanilla cream cheese and raspberry jam. I also packed a mandarin orange, strawberries, Trader Joe’s Inner Peas, and a few fairy cookies.
Happy October! The month where I start to really picture Fall. I picture pumpkin everything (okay, I’ve been picturing that for about a month now), crunchy leaves, crisp, cool weather, boots, scarves, family walks, pumpkin patches…I could go on and on. Sadly, where I live, the weather is still a muggy 90’s. But a girl can dream!
Both my boys are in school tomorrow, so I packed two lunches.
For my Bigs:
I packed ham and cheese kebabs, green & red grapes, pineapple, Trader Joe’s plantain chips, a squeezy yogurt, and a soft pumpkin ginger cookie.
For my Smalls:
I packed half a PB&J, some Trader Joe’s Inner Peas, cut green & red grapes, cut cheese stick, and one soft pumpkin ginger cookie.
PS – I’ve started a Proverbs Bible Study, where we focus on one of the 31 chapters for each of the 31 days in October. I’d love to share a verse that speaks to me from that day’s chapter.

It’s already Wednesday…well, tomorrow it will be. And the flood warnings will have been called off, finally. It’s been raining torrential cats and dogs each afternoon. Where I go jogging normally is completely underwater. I am hoping the rains will subside and the cooler weather will move in. That *may* be wishful thinking. All this rainy weather has, however, made it look more fallish out. Even wintry. If I squint. Our house is decorated for Halloween. My boys had such a great time putting up all our stuff. I mean, my Bigs had a great time putting up all our stuff. My Smalls had a great time ripping and throwing all our stuff. I love this time of year. It really puts me in the mood to cook meals you’d typically eat this season. Tonight, we are having ham, roasted broccoli, and sweet potatoes. Yum.
My boys’ lunches have that fall time feel, as well. I do declare, this is my favorite time of year!
For my Bigs, I packed a ham and cheese on whole wheat (with mayo), seasoned corn, “pumpkin pie” yogurt (I mix canned pumpkin with vanilla yogurt and sprinkle with cinnamon), a teeny apple, one soft pumpkin ginger cookie, and a few chocolate covered sunflower seeds (Trader Joe’s). Fun!
While my Bigs is in school, we’ll be meeting up with a friend. I like to pack lunches for the boys when we do that. It saves time and money.
I need LOTS of snacks to keep my Smalls busy while us adults are trying to maintain a conversation. I packed a peanut butter and pumpkin butter (Trader Joe’s) sandwich, some Inner Peas snacks (TJ’s), one soft pumpkin ginger cookie, a few chocolate covered sunflower seeds (TJ’s), some applesauce, a banana, and a pumpkin cereal bar (TJ’s).
